Strategies for Avoiding Pain, Sickness or Suffering When It’s Hot
Summer’s here and that means different things for different people. For many, it’s a time of vacation—a few weeks or maybe even a couple months. It also means dealing the Texas heat. Here are some tips to help you stay strong and healthy this summer.
Hydrate…Hydrate…Hydrate
It’s pretty easy for your body to lose fluids in the heat of a Texas summer. Dehydration can cause discomfort, but it can also pose a serious health risk. You don’t need to stock up on expensive sports drinks, either. It’s still pretty hard to beat plain water for effective hydration. Start with a glass when you wake up and try to take in at least 8 12 ounce glasses throughout the day.
Stay Active
You’re on vacation—that’s the time to lounge on the couch or by the pool, right? Not if you want to stay health. Your body was made to move—while periodic rest can be good for an injury, there’s seldom benefit to sitting in one place for any length of time. You don’t have to be a gym rat or run a marathon. A daily walk can do wonders for your joints, your heart and your whole body.
Get a Regular Spinal Adjustment
You don’t need to slip and fall or otherwise hurt yourself to benefit from a spinal manipulation. The most basic activities of daily life can cause your spine to move. A regular adjustment can maximize health and minimize the likelihood of pain and discomfort.
